Public holidays 2026

Nine public holidays apply across the whole country: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, German Unity Day Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Everything beyond that is decided by each state — Corpus Christi, Reformation Day and All Saints' Day each apply in only part of the country. The split stays the same from year to year; only the dates move with Easter.
